Elgeyo Marakwet: Anin Girls Principal Charged Over Exam Theft

Anin Girls Secondary School Principal in Elgeyo Marakwet County was on December 22, 2022, arraigned before an Iten court, facing accusations of involvement in examination malpractices.

The Principal, Esther Kibor, appeared before Principal Magistrate Charles Kutwa.

According to court documents, Kibor is accused of among others distributing examination papers believed to have been part of the Swahili Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) paper that candidates were doing.

The crime, the prosecution says, was committed by the principal alongside others not before the court on December 8, 2022, at around 11.30 am.

The principal is accused of distributing Swahili KCSE exam papers that candidates were doing.

Kibor however pleaded not guilty to all three charges that she was facing.

Her lawyer asked the court to release her on bail pending a hearing and determination of the case.

The court agreed to Anin Girls High School Principal’s application and was released on Ksh50,000 cash bail.

The mention for the case has been set for January 10, 2023. The hearing for the case will however start on February 14, 2023.

884,263 form four candidates from across the country have been sitting for KCSE for the last two weeks.

KSCE exams conclude on December 23, 2022.

Candidates are expected to sit for their last paper this Friday, December 23, 2022.
