MP Salasya to Splash Ksh3m on Constituents’ Christmas Gifts

Locals within Mumias East Constituency are about to have a Christmas they may not forget for a very long time.

This follows plans by their area Member of Parliament Peter Salasya to host them at his home for a pre-Christmas celebration.

The youthful legislator, in a tweet on December 22, 2022, indicated that all is set for the event that will climax in all those that attended going home with gifts that will enable them to celebrate Christmas with something in their stomach.

According to a video that the newly elected MP posted on his social media pages, some of the gifts he has prepared for his constituents include sugar, flour, cooking oil and rice.

He noted that he welcomes all the constituents to the ceremony, assuring that everyone will go back home with something.

I want to wish Kenyans a merry Christmas and tomorrow being a Friday, December 23, I invite all Mumias East constituency residents here tomorrow. I will give you Christmas…sugar, rice, cooking oil, tea and I will also know what to do,” Salasya said in the video.

You know I must give back to society, tomorrow this field will be full and everybody will get. Nobody will miss a present,” he added.

Nothing to lose

The legislator who has made a name for posting humorous videos on his social media pages indicated that he will use at least Ksh3 million for the Christmas gifts.

He noted that he has opted to use a lot of money on the event as he never spent a lot during his campaigns.

In a past interview after winning the election, having vied on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket, Salasya said unlike other aspirants, he never used a lot of money in campaigns.

I only got this seat because people related with my manifesto that touched on issues affecting them,” he said.

The 32-year-old is among the youthful politicians that made it to the national assembly after the August 9, 2022, general election.
