A court in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County on Friday, September 23, 2022, sentenced a man to 40 years in jail after he was found guilty of killing his wife.
Solomon Kiplimo Cheboskwony had been charged with killing his wife, a crime the court was told, he committed in the Kapsio area, Keiyo North Sub County.
Court documents indicate that Kiplimo killed his wife on June 14, 2021, at around 6.00 am by stabbing her in the stomach and hand.
The crime is said to have been committed after the man allegedly found his wife engaging in a sexual act with another man.

However, the court was told that the two had been separated for a while at the time the incident happened.
In sentencing, the man to 40 years in jail, Iten Principal Magistrate Charles Kutwa said it was clear the accused was angry when he committed the heinous act.
But the Magistrate expressed optimism that with the sentence, the family of the deceased will feel justice had finally been served for the murder of their daughter.
He also noted that the sentence will help the accused think through his actions and hopefully, reform.
The accused now has 14 days to appeal the 40-year sentence.
