At least 400 people have been diagnosed with Malaria disease in various health facilities in Kerio Valley in the past Two weeks.
According to Health authorities, the number of patients seeking treatment has continued to increase by the day with local institutions being affected.
Consequently, the County government of Elgeyo Marakwet Public Health department has since responded to the upsurge.
Chief officer Preventive and Promotive Health Services Ms. Caroline Magut is leading a response team on the ground carrying out Prevention and control of the disease.

Addressing a public Sensitization meeting at Chesongoch centre, Ms. Magut said over 11,000 households across the County have been mapped out for Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS).
“We are alive to the upsurge and we are not leaving anything to chance. My department is up to the task. We have already sensitised our Community Health Promoters on the way forward,” said Magut.
