Fatal Road Traffic Accident at Timboroa Kills Five, Several Injured

A fatal road accident in the Timboroa area has left five people dead.

The early morning accident along the busy Eldoret-Nakuru Highway is said to have involved three vehicles.

National Police Service says the accident happened on Thursday, January 4, at 1.40 am.

NPS Officers from Timboroa Police Station are responding to a tragic road traffic accident that claimed 3 lives on 04/01/2024 at about 0140 hours at Mlango Tatu area along Nakuru-Eldoret Road,” police said in a statement on their social media pages.

The accident, according to the police involved a Mitsubishi bus, a Toyota Probox and one other vehicle.

However, police are yet to establish the cause of the accident.

Three people died on the spot in the incident, while two others succumbed while receiving treatment at Eldama Ravine Sub-county Hospital in Baringo County.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved a Mistubish bus and 3 other vehicles including a Toyota Probox,” NPS said.

Several passengers have been rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub-county Hospital for treatment but two more unknown passengers have succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the said hospital,” it added.

Bodies of the deceased have since been preserved at the same Hospital Morgue awaiting Autopsy.

The accident caused a heavy traffic snarl on the busy highway.

However, the National Police Service early in the morning said “Efforts are underway to clear the road obstruction”.
