Christmas came early to hundreds of vulnerable families in Langas, Uasin Gishu County after they benefited from a food donation initiative.
The initiative was led by Florence Akinyi, an aspiring Langas Member of County Assembly (MCA).
Speaking during the exercise, Akinyi, popularly known as Mama Daughter, said the tough economic situation motivated her to provide an early Christmas gift to the vulnerable families.

“Langas is a slum where many residents cannot support themselves, and those who can should help others,” she said.
“I had initially anticipated assisting 2,500 people, but about 2,000 residents came to receive the food supplies,” she added.
The food donation brought smiles and relief to many families, including those with children living with disabilities.
Simon Kimemia, a resident expressed his gratitude to Mama Daughter, one of the main donors, for supporting them during such challenging times.

He also highlighted the struggles faced by families, noting that some mothers have been forced to hide their children due to the harsh economic conditions.
“We are very grateful to Mama Daughter for standing with us during these tough times. The economic situation has become extremely difficult, and persons living with disabilities need special support,” Kimemia said.
“Some mothers are hiding their children because of the harsh economy,” he added.
Mama Daughter shared her joy in being part of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of helping others, especially children, mothers, and persons living with disabilities.

“I am happy to be part of this initiative and help families enjoy an early Christmas. It is important that those who can support others step forward,” she said.
