The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr Susan Wafula, on March 13, 2023, welcomed the new chairperson of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), Daniel Rono.
Rono, who was recently appointed to the tole paid the CS a courtesy visit at Afya House in Nairobi.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Wafula congratulated the former MP on his appointment and thanked him for accepting to serve the nation in that capacity.
The CS noted that as the Ministry of Health works towards reforming KEMSA, Rono’s appointment comes at a critical time when the availability of drugs in public health facilities is of utmost importance.

Further, she said the reforms aim to enhance KEMSA’s efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to ensure the availability of drugs in public health facilities across the country.
“As the Ministry of Health, we are committed to ensuring efficient and effective services to all Kenyans, and this includes improving the availability of drugs in public health facilities,” said CS Wafula.
“We are currently in the process of reforming KEMSA, and we believe that Mr Rono’s leadership will be critical in achieving our goals,” she added.
In his remarks, the KEMSA board chairperson further expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health for his appointment and pledged to work towards ensuring the availability of drugs in public health facilities.

He also acknowledged the challenges facing KEMSA and promised to work closely with the ministry to overcome them.
The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) is a state-owned health logistics service company with the core mandate to procure, warehouse and distribute healthcare commodities to public sector health facilities and other public sector customers.
