Gideon’s Starlets went top of the Football Kenya Federation Women Division One Zone B League table after beating Vihiga Leeds 1-0 over the weekend.
The solitary goal enabled the Homa Bay-based team to leapfrog Kisped and Bungoma Queens who were battling for supremacy on Saturday.
Bungoma Queen’s Martha Karani scored in the extra time to close the gap on Kisped with a hard-earned 1-0.
Gideon’s are now joint top of the table with 30 points after 14 games but have a superior goal difference.
Bungoma Queens remain third with 29 points but have a game in hand against the two top teams.

In other matches played over the weekend, Gene Queens beat Solasa Stima 2-0 while Rongai Eaglets played to a 1-1 draw against Kolwa Falcons.
MTG United edged out Murang’a Queens 2-1 in another match.

The battle for the FKF Women Division One Zone B league title and promotion continues next weekend with several matches.
Vihiga Leeds will be away at Kimathi Grounds in Nakuru to face hosts Kimathi Lioness while Solasa Stima Queens will be hosting Gusii Starlets at ASK Show Grounds in Eldoret, Saturday.
On Sunday, league leaders Gideons Starlets will host Rongai Eaglets at Opanga Primary School ground. Soccer Assasins will be welcoming Gene Queens at Esirambe Primary in Luanda.
