Government Announces Date It Will Release Kenya Junior School Education Assessment Results

The Ministry of Education has finally announced the date it will release the 2025 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results.

Learners in Grade 9 across the country recently concluded sitting for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment under the new Competency-Based Education (CBE).

When will KJSEA results be released?

According to Basic Education Principal Secretary Prof Julius Bitok, the KJSE results will be released before Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12, 2025.

Once the results are released, the selection and placement for the Grade Nine learners to Grade Ten will immediately commence.

The PS said by Christmas, learners will have known the senior schools they will be joining.

The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment results for Grade 9 will be released by 11th December, with the selection and placement of learners to Grade 10 senior schools completed before Christmas,” PS Bitok said when he oversaw the opening of the KCSE examination container at the Kikuyu DCC’s office on Monday, November 17, 2025.

All candidates will report to their new institutions on 12th January next year as we ensure a smooth and well-coordinated transition into senior school,” he added.

How many learners sat for KJSEA in 2025?

Approximately 1.1 million Grade 9 learners sat for the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) in October and November 2025.

This was the first cohort to take the exam under the CBE, which replaced the 8-4-4 system.

They will now be joining senior secondary from junior secondary schools.
