A cold war between Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and Senator Jackson Mandago looks far from over.
Governor Bii has now hit out at the senator, accusing him of leaving behind many stalled projects.
Speaking on Thursday, May 28, 2026, during his ongoing ward-level bursary disbursement exercise, the county boss claimed Mandago only finished projects that he directly benefited from.

“There was nothing that you did during your tenure. No projects were finished. Those you finished are only the ward offices because you were getting a share from the contractors,” Bii said, without providing evidence on the allegations.
“Thank God I took over from you and continued with those stalled projects so that you can have a legacy. Without that, you had nothing to show for,” he added.
The governor also told off the senator over calls to work closely with elders. He claimed Mandago had preferred elders he was paying insisting that the county has many elders.
“Unaniambia nikae na wazee kama nani? Kwani wale walinipea fimbo juzi sio wazee. Kama ulikua na wazee wako wenye ulikua unawachunga wewe kaa nao. Jua iko wazee wapya,” Governor Bii said.

He also took a swipe at Members of Parliament he accused of tarnishing his name.
Soy MP David Kiplagat and CPA Julius Ruto of Kesses have been Governor Bii’s fierce critics. The two, alongside Mandago and alleged to be supporting Basic Education Principal Secretary Prof Julius Bitok’s bid to unseat Bii.
“There are MPs here who have made it their business to speak ill about me yet I usually don’t cause trouble to anyone. They should leave me alone,” the county boss said.
