Uasin Gishu County Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim has officially launched the Kapchepchai water project, which aims to provide clean, portable water to over 150 households in the region.
The project is part of Dr. Bii’s ongoing commitment to improving access to water for both household use and irrigation, as outlined in his leadership manifesto under Nguzo Number 7.
Sustainable water resources
Speaking at the event, the county boss emphasized the importance of sustainable water resources for the residents of Uasin Gishu.
“As part of the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program, the residents of Cheptiret/Kipchamo ward in Kesses Sub-County are the first beneficiaries of this initiative,” said Dr. Bii.
He further assured the community that the project would be completed according to the Bill of Quantities, with no delays.
“My mission today is focused on delivering tangible development through the Nguzo Kumi pillars, which I promised in my manifesto. I would also like to thank the people of Cheptiret/Kipchamo for their unwavering support. In addition to launching the water project, we have revived 10 cattle dips under Nguzo Number 1, a key initiative aimed at enhancing livestock health,” Dr. Bii added.
The Governor also shared his dedication to improving the dairy farming sector.
He noted that some farmers are now producing up to 50 liters of milk per cow, which reflects significant progress.
“Soon, we will be launching the Maziwa ni School Fees program on February 18th, to further support our dairy farmers and ensure that the milk program remains sustainable,” he said.
Dr. Bii highlighted the crucial role of cooperatives in driving economic growth and urged local farmers to embrace this model.
He mentioned that much of the government’s funding and support are channeled through cooperatives, encouraging farmers to join these initiatives for mutual benefit.

During the tour of Cheptiret/Kipchamo ward, Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea urged the residents to protect the projects for the future prosperity of the community.
“The Nguzo Kumi is the cornerstone of our development, and I’m proud to see that each pillar has been realized in every ward,” said Deputy Governor Kapkea.
