Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Wafula Nakhumicha has ordered for immediate transfer of Officer Commanding Matisi Police Station (OCS).
Speaking at Kipsongo Premium during the burial of a body builder Joseph Marango popularly known as Terminator, Nakhumicha said the officer in charge of the police station had been accused of being incompetent and has failed to tame insecurity in Matisi slums.
She said her order is based on President William Ruto’s one government approach that gives her powers to transfer an OCS without the approval of Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
“I am a Cabinet Secretary in Ruto’s administration with a flag on my vehicle, that flag is not a joke. I am giving an order to Matisi OCS that he should leave the station by tomorrow; in fact I am told the OCS is here. If you are here, take note of the order because it is not a laughing matter,” Nakhumicha said.

The tough talking CS further said after the OCS has been transferred, other junior officers under him will also face the same fate.
“As soon as we finish with the OCS, we shall also make some reshuffles in that police station so that criminals do not terrorize our people,” she said.
Matisi ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) who is also the Trans Nzoia County Assembly Deputy Speaker Obed Mwale said if the officer is not transferred immediately, he will mobilize residents to remove him from office.
“My people elected me to defend their rights. If the OCS will still be there by Tuesday, I will go there with my people so that we send him out of office,” Mwale said.
Criminal gangs
Meanwhile, Kenya Seed Company director Bernard Wambwa expressed concerns about the emergence of criminal gangs in the area and asked law enforcement agencies to deal with the gangs.
“We will not continue to burry our youths who are murdered in cold blood by some few criminals. We are also asking the DCI to deal with them once and for all,” Wambwa appealed.
Josphat Barasa, a peace ambassador, on her part, asked the government and elected leaders to empower youths from slums with entrepreneurship skills.
“Some of our young people are in crime because they are idle and don’t have source of income. They should be given business start up capital,” the peace ambassador said.
Marango alias ‘Terminator’ was mourned as a quiet, peace loving person who mentored many body builders in Trans Nzoia and West Pokot counties, as well as Moi’s Bridge in Uasin Gishu County.

It is alleged the body builder was murdered on July 19 by a mob when he tried to extinguish bonfires lit by anti government protesters along Kitale-Suam highway.
He succumbed to knife stabs that led to internal haemorrhage.
