Hiyo Imeharibika: Oscar Sudi tells UDA nominated MCAs in Uasin Gishu

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has admitted that changes were irregularly made to the list of nominated MCAs in Uasin Gishu.

The court in August ruled that 9 of the MCAs nominated by UDA were in office illegally.

According to the High Court, which upheld an earlier stand taken by a magistrate’s court, IEBC relied on a wrong list provided by UDA.

The list used by IEBC, the court said, had been rejected by the Political Parties Tribunal.

Already the 9 nominated MCAs have appealed the ruling at the Court of Appeal.

But even as hearing for the case continues, Sudi says the MCAs should admit that they have lost their seats.

Speaking at a recent public event in his constituency, the vocal legislator said individuals that the party originally nominated were mysteriously removed and replaced with those the courts declared null and void.

We had agreed that one MCA would come from the Luhya Community, another from persons with disabilities, then another one from Langas, Huruma and Burnt Forest but when we were busy campaigning for the president, some people changed,” the UDA legislator revealed.

We had a blind man, a girl from the Akoroni Bishop from Burnt Forest and Mohamed from here is Langas who missed,” he added.

UDA was allocated 13 nominated slots – 9 of which have since been declared null.

But evenas Sudi says the nominated MCAs might as well agree that they have lost the seats, he promised that they will be taken care.

He however did not explain how.

Among those whose nomination has been revoked is David Waiganjo, a close ally of Uasin Gishu County Woman MP Gladys Boss Shollei and Wachira Maina.

“Huyu Wachira ni mimi niliweka yeye kwa hiyo list…tutasort hao lakini hiyo imeharibika. Janet amekosa lakini tutampatia kitu. So hii viketi tutapangana mpaka kila mtu apate mahali pa kukalia,” Sudi said.

A decision by the court to revoke nomination of the 9 MCAs has recently seen operations of the Uasin Gishu County county halted for not meeting the gender requirement. Most of those affected by the order were women.

The County Assembly however secured another court order that set aside a ruling to suspend the sittings.
