Huruma Grounds’ Roadworks, Improvements in Top Gear Ahead Of World TB Day Celebrations

Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Roads, Transport and Public Works Department Engineer Joseph Lagat on Wednesday, 22 March 2023, inspected the final phase of roadworks and improvements at the Huruma Grounds in Eldoret town.

The grounds will be hosting this year’s World TB day commemoration event which will be held, this Friday, March 24, 2023.

During his inspection tour, the CECM who was accompanied by other government officials said preparations are in top gear and that the County government is committed to making the day which will be attended by the head of state as well as other dignitaries successful.

It is a privilege, honour and proud moment for us as a County to witness and host such a big event. I would like to thank the team of engineers and heavy machine operators for their dedication and also for working tirelessly to ensure a job well done to provide a sound environment for the important event,” CECM Eng. Lagat said.

President William Ruto is expected to preside over the event which will also be attended by the US ambassador to Kenya Margaret ‘Meg’ Cushing Whitman among other guests.

World TB Day 2023, with the theme ‘YES! WE CAN END TB!, is aimed at inspiring hope and encouraging high-level leadership, increased investments as well as faster uptake of new WHO recommendations.

It will also focus on the adoption of innovations, accelerated action, and multi-sectoral collaboration to compact the Tuberculosis epidemic.
