Nandi County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning CPA Alfred Lagat recently presented the County Budget Statement for the 2025/2026 Financial Year to the County Assembly.
The statement outlined a Ksh 9.115 billion spending plan anchored on the theme “The Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth.”
Aligning with Year 3 of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP 2023-2027) and the national Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), the budget prioritizes completing ongoing projects, enhancing service delivery, and laying foundations for diversified economic growth, particularly in the face of persistent global economic headwinds.

Nandi County Strategic Development Allocations
The Ksh 2.561 billion development budget targets transformative investments:
- Healthcare (Ksh 201.2M Dev)
Major equipment upgrades include theatre construction/renovation at Chepterwai, Kaptumo, Nandi Hills, Serem, completion of Kapsabet Funeral Home and laundry unit, essential drugs, and support for Community Health Promoters (CHPs).
- Agriculture (Significant Allocation)
Boosting coffee and avocado value chains (machinery, seedlings), Ksh 20M capitalization for NCC Dairy Plant, livestock disease control (vaccines, dips, acaricides), slaughterhouse upgrades, and Ksh 69M for Kaimosi Agricultural Training Centre (ATC).
- Roads & Infrastructure (Ksh 554.5M Dev)
Continued ward-based road programs, cabro installations, equipment hire, fuel provision, and bridge construction/maintenance.
- Education & Youth Empowerment
Construction/renovation of ECDE centres and VTCs, provision of learning materials and tools, a substantial Ksh 120M County Bursary Fund, and Ksh 25M VTC Capitation grant.
- Water & Environment (Significant Allocation)
New boreholes, maintenance of existing water systems, counterpart funding for Kenya Water and Sanitation (K-WASH) projects, tree seedling propagation, and climate change mitigation initiatives.

- Trade, Industrialization & Tourism
Ksh 100M for the County Aggregation & Industrial Park (CAIP), development of MSME worksites, Ksh 30M for the Nandi Textile Unit, and tourism development (Animal Rescue Centre, Nandi Rock, Chepkiit Falls).
- Sports & Youth
Operationalization of Eliud Kipchoge Complex (ramp, gym, water connection), maintenance of stadiums, and provision of sports equipment.
- Urban Development (Kapsabet)
Ksh 92.5M plus ward funds for a new Municipal Board office, road and parking improvements, town beautification, and enhanced waste management systems.
- Governance & Administration
Completion of Citizen Service Centre, Governor’s Office/Residence, County Assembly offices/refurbishment, and Ksh 220M allocated for staff medical insurance.
