Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja has been cleared to contest in the upcoming poll.
On Monday, June 6, 2022, Koti Moja was cleared alongside his running mate Eng. John Barorot.
Accompanied by hundreds of his supporters, the UDA gubernatorial aspirant arrived at the IEBC offices shortly after 11.00 am, and presented his nomination papers for verification.

The process took about 30 minutes, and the Uasin Gishu County IEBC Returning Officer Irene Mutai said Koti Moja had met all the thresholds to be cleared.
Among the requirement for an individual to vie for the governor seat is having a degree.
“We are grateful today that I had a date with IEBC and they were going through my papers and those of my deputy governor and we are very glad that we have been cleared,” Koti Moja told journalists at IEBC offices at Kenmosa Village.
He assured Uasin Gishu locals of conducting a peaceful campaign and challenged his competitors to also commit to preaching peace.

“We are going to have peaceful campaigns, and we are requesting other nominees to do the same,” he said.
“They have said Uasin Gishu is a hotspot and we want to prove them wrong. All our competitors are our brothers so there will be no quarrel, what we are advocating is peace,” Koti Moja added.
Moments, after he was cleared by IEBC, Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja, rode on a horse, metaphorically signaling that he is the man to beat in the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial contest.

According to the IEBC County Returning Officer Irene Mutai, they have cleared three candidates who will be squaring it out in the governor’s seat.
Independent candidate Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki was cleared on Saturday, June 4, 2022, while William Kirwa, a former ADC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) vying on a United Democratic Movement (UDM) was given a green light on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
