Nandi County Assembly majority whip, Julius Kipruto Keter, has died.
The Chemundu/Kapngetuny ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) died on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
According to the Nandi County Assembly Speaker Philemon Melly, Keter died while receiving treatment in a hospital in Eldoret town.
Melly, in a statement confirming the MCA’s death, said he had been unwell in the last few weeks.
“Nandi County Assembly is deeply saddened to announce the untimely passing on of Julius Kipruto Keter, the Majority Whip and MCA Chemundu/Kapngetuny Ward,” read part of the speaker’s statement seen by Uasin Gishu News.
“Keter has been unless for the last three weeks. He sadly lost the battle and Fountain Hospital in Eldoret,” he added.
The Nandi County Assembly Speaker described the late MCA as a true servant of the people who dedicated his life to the betterment of his people.
“His tireless work, unwavering commitment and genuine love for the community will be cherished,” he added.
The county assembly is expected to communicate further on burial plans.
Several leaders in Nandi and nearby counties have already shared their condolences with the family and friends.
How Stephen Sang mourned MCA Julius Keter
Nandi Governor Stephen Sang described the late MCA as a friend and a true servant of the people.
“His unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of his constituents, his humility, and his calm, thoughtful leadership will be deeply missed,” Sang said in a statement on his verified Facebook page.
“He stood firm in advocating for development and was a strong voice in the County Assembly of Nandi,” he added.
Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, Aldai MP Maryann Keitany and former MP Wilson Kogo are among other leaders who have shared their messages of condolence.
