Former Nandi County Assembly Speaker Joshua Kiptoo has commended the quality of healthcare service delivery at Mosoriot Sub-County Hospital in Chesumei Sub-County.
He described the facility as a potential benchmark for other public hospitals across the county.
Kiptoo made the remarks after visiting the Level IV hospital in Mosoriot, Lelmokwo/Ngechek Ward, where he interacted with healthcare workers, patients, mothers and children receiving services at the facility.
He was received by the hospital administrator Obadiah Limo.

The former Speaker said devolution was established to ensure essential services, including healthcare, are brought closer to the people, especially those living in rural areas.
“Devolution is meant to bring health closer to the people. A Level IV hospital is expected to be stocked, staffed and equipped so that mothers do not travel for hours to deliver safely and no child dies from a preventable illness,” Kiptoo said.
During the visit, the former speaker toured the hospital’s infant and mothers’ wing, where he observed modern equipment and praised health workers for their commitment to patient care.
He said the dedication of medical personnel, coupled with proper equipment and improved infrastructure, was key to strengthening maternal and child health services in the county.
“Mosoriot Hospital can be a benchmark for other facilities across Nandi County,” he said, noting that reliable and accessible services at sub-county hospitals would reduce pressure on referral facilities and spare residents the burden of travelling long distances for treatment.
Mosoriot Sub-County Hospital serves residents of Lelmokwo/Ngechek Ward and neighbouring areas in Chesumei Sub-County, providing a range of outpatient, maternity, child health and other essential medical services.
