The oxygen generation plant at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital has been further upgraded with a 3000L liquid oxygen of BOC Gas.
This is aimed at providing uninterruptible oxygen supply at the facility, thus better care on oxygen dependent patients and other uses. The BOC Gas is a provision through a partnership of the County Government and Clinton Health Access International (CHAI).
“Our key goal is to revamp the healthcare system across the county by providing quality services for our patients, this will reduce mortality rates,” said the County Executive Committee Member for Health Services Ruth Koech while inspecting the facility.

The upgraded plant will help in treatment of expectant mothers and children in need of oxygen support, patients undergoing surgical procedures and other medical conditions.
“A hospital’s ability to provide a secure source of oxygen is often life saving. The surplus oxygen generated from this plant will be distributed to other facilities across the county,” the CECM added.
The PSA Plant can currently generate 260L of oxygen per minute and fill the oxygen cylinders on site.

With the upgraded BOC Gas cylinder, the plant is completely standalone in oxygen generation, the oxygen cylinder filling station is fully automated with compact and easy operation design, it can produce oxygen and fill the oxygen cylinders based on actual demand.
Through the partnership, the County is now gas sufficient with two PSA plants; at Kapsabet County Referral Hospital and Nandi Hills Sub County Hospital.
