Kapteldon Sub-County Hospital Gets Major Diagnostic Boost as Governor Bii Launches Digital X-Ray Unit

Kapteldon Sub-County Hospital has taken a significant step in strengthening healthcare delivery following the official launch of a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine by Uasin Gishu Governor Dr Jonathan Bii Chelilim, ushering in a new era of modern diagnostics for residents of Kapseret and surrounding areas.

The launch, presided over by the Governor, also unveiled a suite of critical diagnostic equipment, including an ultrasound machine, a full hemogram analyser, and an HbA1c machine—tools that will greatly enhance the detection and management of conditions such as pneumonia, prostate cancer, blood sugar disorders, platelet abnormalities, and other critical illnesses.

Governor Dr Bii noted that the modern digital X-ray system allows radiographers to examine specific areas with greater precision, improving early diagnosis and timely treatment.

Why Uasin Gishu County is investing in sub-county hospitals

He also emphasised that the investment aims to strengthen Kapteldon Hospital, reducing unnecessary referrals to higher-level facilities.

We want to decongest Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) by ensuring our people access quality services right here at Kapteldon.

This facility now has the capacity to serve our residents effectively, and I urge them to make full use of it ~ Jonathan Bii, Uasin Gishu Governor.

In addition, the Governor reiterated that his administration remains committed to delivering quality healthcare, highlighting that healthcare is the second pillar of his manifesto.

He added that the new ultrasound services will enable doctors to better assess tissue-related conditions, benefiting mothers, children, and patients with complex medical needs.

County Executive Committee Member for Health Janet Kurgat praised the hospital’s growing capacity, citing the maternity unit as a key contributor to improved maternal health outcomes in the area.

As the digital X-ray unit was officially commissioned, Governor Dr Bii encouraged residents to visit the facility in large numbers, assuring them that diagnostic services are free for patients registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Area Member of County Assembly Moses Kebenei expressed gratitude to the County Government under Governor Dr Bii for fulfilling promises to residents, including the installation of gates, cabros, facility facelift, and perimeter fencing.

Does Kapteldon Sub-County Hospital offer X-ray services?

Chief Officer for Clinical Services Ambrose Tarus confirmed that X-ray services are now fully operational at Kapteldon Hospital.

He added that the facility is well-stocked with essential drugs and also offers dental services.

Also present at the launch were County Executives Dr Sam Kottut (Agriculture and agribusiness) and Robert Kemei (ICT, Youth affairs and Sports), Chief Officers Abraham Kiptallam (Agriculture) and Geoffrey Tanui (Roads), and Director of Medical Services Dr Evans Kiprotich.
