Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu released the results for the 2023 KCPE on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
As it has been a tradition for the last few years, there was neither ranking of schools nor students based on their performance.
The CS only indicated that the top KCPE candidate had 428 marks with over 8,000 students scoring 400 marks and above.
Top candidates in Uasin Gishu
In Uasin Gishu County, data compiled by Uasin Gishu News indicate that a top student scored 420 marks.
There were several of them from different schools among them Bethwel Kipkorir from Eldoret Achievers School, Christina Omurunga Ayacko (Greenvale School) and Mercy Cheboit who did her KCPE exam at Little Lambs.
Overall, private schools in Uasin Gishu continue to dominate in posting the best results.
The top school in the 2023 KCPE results is Little Lambs Schools with a mean score of 389.14.
The school located on the outskirts of Eldoret town had an impressive 64 candidates scoring over 400 marks, 85 with between 399 and 350 marks while 9 had between 349 and 300 marks. Only two candidates had below 300 marks at Little Lambs which also produced one of the top students in the county.
Second in performance is Newlight Schools – Ziwa which had a mean grade of 387.50. Its top student had 415 marks while an impressive 45 per cent of the class attained scores surpassing 390 marks.
Greenpark Academy ranks third with a 383.97 mean score. Its top candidate – Trina Wanja had 419 marks with the other 9 candidates scoring above 400 marks.
Only two candidates at the school had less than 400 marks – the duo scoring 398 and 396 marks.
Fourth on the list of best-performing schools in Uasin Gishu is Happy Valley Academy-Chepkanga. The school with 147 candidates had a mean score of 374.16. Three candidates at the academy had over 400 marks, with the top scoring 406 while 152 candidates scored between 350 and 399 marks.
12 candidates had between 300 and 349 marks.
Eldoret Achievers School
Eldoret Achievers School also ranks among the best performers this year, having produced one of the best candidates in the county.
It had 20 candidates with over 400 marks with its last candidate having scored 389 marks.
Hill School is also another top performer in the county despite being a public institution.
Greenvale Academy whose top student had 420 marks registered a 371.72 mean score. The school had 107 candidates – 23 of whom scored above 400 marks, 39 between 380 and 399 while 33 had between 350 and 379 marks.
