This week, the Kenya Kwanza Coalition brigade will be pitching camp in Elgeyo Marakwet County for its economic forum.
For several months now, the coalition has been moving around the country to hold the consultative forums with locals, collecting views it says will form the basis of its manifesto.
And after concluding the economic forums in Mount Kenya over the weekend, the Deputy President William Ruto-led team will be moving to Elgeyo Marakwet.
County’s Governor Nominee for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Wisely Rotich says the economic forum will be led by Kenya Kwanza’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua.
The economic forum is set for this Friday, May 27, 2022, at Lornah Kiplagat Stadium.
“We shall hold our economic forum this Friday 27th to collect views on our county’s bottom-up blueprint. I hereby request our youth, mboga, farmers, sportsmen and women, bodaboda riders, business people, the clergy, peace ambassadors, union officials of various bodies, the council of elders, opinion leaders, elected leaders, and our professionals to participate in this very important exercise,” Rotich said in a post on his Facebook page.
“Each group can identify the issue to address and give recommendations on how it can be tackled to be presented in the plenary. The exercise is purely voluntary and very useful to define the destiny of our great county,” he added.
But before the economic forum, the Kenya Kwanza team will be holding a series of political rallies in the county on Thursday.
The rallies will be held in Kapyego, Kapcherop and Biretwo, led by the Mathira Member of Parliament.
This will be the first time Gachagua will be holding a rally alone, since his unveiling as the Kenya Kwanza running mate.
Elgeyo Marakwet is considered a key stronghold of DP Ruto and Kenya Kwanza – based on the past voting patterns.
