Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich on Friday, September 18, 2026, commissioned a standard two-disc coffee cherry pulping machine in Teber, Kocholwo, in Keiyo South Sub-County.

According to Governor Rotich, the machine removes the outer cover and pulp from freshly harvested coffee cherries to prepare the beans for wet processing and fermentation.

The equipment has a capacity of pulping two tonnes of coffee berries per hour.

Locals who spoke during the machine’s commissioning said the development was a relief to farmers who previously relied on hand-driven machines.

I will continue encouraging our farmers to grow more coffee in support of our wealth creation strategy,” the Governor said.

County improving Iten Town roads

Meanwhile, Roads within Iten Town are currently being upgraded to tarmac.

Some of the roads being improved include Kapsho– Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH) Road, KMTC–St. Patrick’s-Koisungur –Prime Time Sacco Road, Milimani–Iten Primary Road, access road to Kamariny Stadium and Kamogich-Public service road

These improvements will enhance accessibility to schools and estates within the town,” the county boss said.
