‘Kipchirchirigathi’: Eldoret Man Coins New Name for the DP

It looks like Kenyans are quickly becoming fond of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Days after he got a new nickname – ‘Riggy G’, the DP now has another new one – coined by another Kenyan.

Michael Kirwa, a local within Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County says he has coined the DP’s new name that should henceforth be – H.E ‘Kipchirchirigathi’.

Kirwa speaking to Uasin Gishu News on October 19, 2022, says the name comes as a Mashujaa Day celebration for the second in command and the President, William Ruto – their first national event while in government.

While in Tanzania recently, Ruto said his other name ‘Kipchirchir’ means making things be done faster and for me, I thought it good to nickname Gachagua ‘Kipchirchir’ because together with the President, they will make things go faster,” the Eldoret local said.

He now hopes the DP should adopt the name ‘Kipchirchirigathi’, the same way he did with the ‘Riggy G’ nickname.

Giving a different name to a leader is not anything new in the country. Recently during a thanksgiving service in Uasin Gishu, Gachagua said he had now given the Head of State a new name – Kamau.

Hustler Fund

Aside from coining the ‘Kipchirchir Rigathi’ name, the Eldoret local commonly referred to as ‘Waziri Bila Kazi’ (Cabinet Secretary Without Portfolio) has also developed a new term that aligns with The Kenya Kwanza government’s bottom-up agenda.

Tagged ‘Bottom Up Marathon (Bum Bum) 50B’, Kirwa notes that the new term focuses on the Ksh50 billion hustlers’ fund that is aimed at supporting citizens at the bottom of the pyramid.

He says with the Ksh50 billion channelled through Hustlers Fund, it has the potential of creating up to 24 million jobs.

The CS without portfolio has gone further to allocate the number of jobs each of the leaders in the country should create – President Ruto 12 million, DP Gachagua 8 million jobs and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi 4 million jobs.

He has also allocated 1,410 jobs for Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and 47 jobs for himself.

Speaking recently in Kericho, the Head of State said the Hustlers Fund will be operationalized on December 1, 2022.

Under the Hustler Fund programme, we will lower the interest to below 10 per cent per year so you can save and when/if your business fails, after a few years you can get that money and boost your business,” Ruto said.

Bottom up marathon

Kirwa has been a loyal supporter of President Ruto for the last 10 years. In 2019, he organized a birthday celebration for Ruto at Nandi Park in Eldoret. He also had a 42-kilometre walk to sensitize locals on the bottom-up agenda prior to the August 9 poll.

I am looking forward to register Bottom up marathon with sport registrar to be a full marathon event and to be held on 21/12/2022 during the birthday celebration of President Ruto yearly. The event will seek to champion the hustler nation,” says the Eldoret local.
