Gachomo takes over from Amin Mohammed Ibrahim who was earlier in the day sworn in as the new Director General of DCI.

Changes at National Police Service
Further, Martin Otieno Omumbo CP has been deployed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations whereas Paul Mumo has been deployed to the Kenya Police Headquarters, Vigilance House Nairobi.
The new changes come at a time the National Police Service (NPS) has been working to align its operation with the new Kenya Kwanza government.
Over the weekend, the acting police boss announced the disbandment of the Special Service Unit (SSU) at the DCI, a move that President William Ruto later said he had ordered to be taken.
Ruto said the unit is behind unresolved killings that have rocked the country within the last few years.
