The Department of Roads in Trans Nzoia on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, received spare parts and fast-wear (consumable) replacements for road maintenance machinery from a supplier.
This marks an important phase in the preparation for the road maintenance exercise, which will begin next week.
County Engineer John Okunyuku, who received the items, said they were in good condition and met the required specifications.

The parts will be used on graders, excavators, and rollers.
According to the department’s Chief Officer, Eng. Joseph Wasike, the road maintenance programme will start next week and run until April.
Eng. Wasike further said the works will be carried out under an in-house programme, with each ward allocated a specific number of kilometres to be maintained.
“The roads will be done according to the required standards because supervision will be strictly enforced,” said Eng. Wasike.
