Thousands of students at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Nairobi Campus are set to benefit from an enhanced learning environment following the completion of seven new classrooms.
The facility, with a combined capacity of 350 students, marks a major investment aimed at easing congestion and improving the quality of training.
The classrooms, each accommodating 50 students, were officially handed over to KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch today, July 3, 2026, following the successful completion of the project.

Receiving the facility, Dr. Oluoch said quality infrastructure is central to the College’s mission, noting that the new classrooms will strengthen the learning environment and support the training of competent health professionals to meet the country’s growing healthcare needs.
“A quality learning environment translates into quality teaching and learning for our students, our health workforce, and ultimately the quality of care delivered to Kenyans,” he said, adding that the additional space will enhance the experience of the more than 8,000 students at the Nairobi Campus.
He further noted that the College will continue investing in infrastructure to keep pace with growing student enrolment and the rising demand for skilled healthcare workers.
How long did new classrooms at KMTC Nairobi take to complete?
Public Works Officer Eng. Maxi Kanze said the project, which took one year and three months to complete, involved renovating and transforming an old building into modern, spacious classrooms designed to provide a more conducive learning environment.

Nairobi Campus Principal Mr. Joseph Ahomo described the project as a timely and significant milestone, noting that the additional classrooms will decongest lecture rooms, create adequate space for teaching and examinations, and enhance the overall learning experience.
Also present at the handover ceremony were representatives of the contractor, Eng. Dickson Mwobobia and Eng. Tony Okindo; KMTC Administration Services Manager, Mr. Collins Agutu; and Mr. Nasser Aura from the Department of Maintenance.
As the College continues to expand its programmes and student enrolment, investment in modern learning facilities remains a key priority to ensure graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competence required to deliver quality healthcare in Kenya and beyond.
