As the world ushered in the new year – 2023, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim alias Koti Moja also joined locals for the celebrations.
He was among hundreds of locals that turned up for the Churchill Show event at the Eldoret Sports Club on the New Year Eve.
While sharing photos of the event, the county boss outlined some of the areas that his administration wil be focusing on for this year.
“As your Governor, my focus will be to implement more development projects in line with my Nguzo Kumi and as per the aspirations of our residents,” Koti Moja said in a post on his official Facebook page.

Nguzo Kumi was the governor’s development blue print, that he used to convince locals to support his gubernatorial bid.
Eldoret city status
The elevation of Eldoret town to a city status is another thing the Uasin Gishu Governor is hoping he will achieve this year.
Already, the process is at the tail end, and an ad hoc committee that collected public views is expected to submit its report to the County Execute before it is submitted to the County Assembly for consideration.
Once the assembly approves the report, it will go to the Senate which will have a final say on whether Eldoret becomes the fifth city or not.

“It is also my desire that this year will see our fast growing town conferred to a city status so that we can benefit from its immense opportunities,” the governor said.
There is so much in store for the youth also. According to the county boss, he plans to roll out tree planting and affordable housing projects in collaboration with the national government that will see youths involved.
For those hoping to get a financial boost in their businesses, Koti Moja has pledged to allocate more resources to offering low-cost loans.
“I will ensure more resources are channelled towards affordable loans such as Inua Biashara and County Enterprise Development Fund among others,” he noted.
Overseas studies
More youths are also expected to travel abroad for further studies.
The governor already has a number of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed with Canadian institutions.

“In the education sector, I shall work towards seeking opportunities for our students overseas. This is after successfully signing a number of MOUs with international institutions in 2022,” said the governor.
