Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago was on Thursday grilled by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over the controversial Finland and Canada Overseas Education Program.
The DCI summoned Mandago as part of their ongoing probe into the utilisation of funds that parents paid to facilitate their children to study in the two countries.
Controversy has been surrounding the program after hundreds of students failed to fly out despite paying millions.
The parents and students have since been demanding for repayment of their monies.
However, it recently emerged that some of the money already in the accounts had been used to clear fees for those already in Finland and Canada.
Mandago initiated the overseas education program in 2019 when serving as the Uasin Gishu Governor.

He confirmed having been grilled at the DCI headquarters in a post on his official social media pages.
“I have today recorded my statement at the @DCI_Kenya (Kiambu Road) on the Finland and Canada overseas education program,” Mandago posted on X, formerly Twitter.
The DCI had already recorded statements from affected families.
The former Governor has come under scrutiny over his role in the controversial program.
Over 200 parents are said to have paid for their children to study in Canada and Finland under the program but they are yet to travel.
It is estimated that the county government of Uasin Gishu will need at least Ksh300 million to refund all the parents whose children failed to fly out.
Nothing but refunds
The parents have been holding peaceful protests in Eldoret as they push for a refund.

Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim and Mandago early this week held meetings with parents and students in an attempt to find a common ground over the matter.
However, the disgruntled parents and students insisted that they would accept nothing but refund.
