Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr Abraham Serem, on Thursday held a meeting with the medical officers and consultants to discuss ways of transforming the healthcare system for improved service delivery.
Speaking during the meeting at the County Commissioners’ boardroom, Dr Serem urged the practitioner’s to drive the agenda of transforming the health care system.
He noted that from the assessment he had conducted, they are working on plans to place the orders of deliverables on time to avoid the interruption of services.

“Let’s engage to have a healthy workforce as we work on domesticating the Facilities improvement funds to improve our services,” said Dr Serem.
The County Executive also challenged the medical practitioners and consultants to embrace teamwork by working together with the community to support the health care services for quality and timely service delivery.
Clinical Services Chief Officer Dr Joyce Sang on her part urged the practitioners to fully give their time to serving the residents even as they work on the departmental organogram and motivation of the staff which has hindered service delivery at the facilities.

In addition, Promotive and Preventive Health Chief Officer Dr Paul Wangwe called on the hospital managers to optimize the National Hospital Insurance Fund.
He noted that facilities have not been claiming Edu AFYA thus prompting the department to establish a system to optimise the collection in the facility.
The two Chief Officers noted that Ziwa Sub County Hospital is the only facility in the County offering Minet Insurance services to the teachers.
