Moi University VC Prof. Isaac Kosgey among Those Awarded State Commendations

President William Ruto on December 12, 2022, awarded a host of Kenyans among them politicians, members of the judiciary and lawyers various state commendations.

Among those awarded is Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kosgei.

The VC was awarded Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS), alongside lawyer Taib Ali Taib, and Dr Komora Amani Yuda together with several military officers.

Some of the military officers that were awarded the MBS include Col Charles Oduor, Col Joel Cherutich, Col Pascal Kitiro, Col Guleid Imano Karu, Col Emmanuel Ptiony Lotu, Col Patrick Kathingo, Col Stephen Melanyi, Col Peter Korir and Col Paul Aruasa.

Other notable leaders who were awarded at the Jamhuri Day celebrations include IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati who was awarded the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) alongside Governors Stephen Sang (Nandi) alongside several other governors.

Shollei – MGH

Uasin Gishu County Woman MP Gladys Boss Shollei, who is also the National Assembly Deputy Speaker was awarded Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) alongside National Assembly Majority and Minority Leaders Kimani Ichung’wah and Opiyo Wandayi as well as Senate Deputy Speaker Murungi Kathuri and Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was decorated with Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS), together with National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya and Majority Chief Whip Silvanus Osoro among others.

During national celebrations, several Kenyans are usually conferred presidential awards in recognition of the efforts they make to serve their country and others.

Various athletes, politicians, clergymen, as well as statesmen among others are awarded by the sitting president.

The National Honors and Awards Committee advises the president on who to award the decorations and medals. The recipients are usually nominated by their county commissioners, government agencies, religious institutions, non-governmental entities, individuals and other community-based groups.
