Azimio One Kenya coalition has formally notified the police of their upcoming peaceful meetings and processions in Nairobi.
The coalition is scheduled to hold the processions on Tuesday next week.
In a letter to the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) – Nairobi Central Police Station Azimio Executive Council chairman Wycliffe Oparanya said they intend to submit a written petition to Harambee House.
Harambee House located in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) houses the Office of the President.

“The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition notifies your office of scheduled peaceful public meeting/procession to take place on Tuesday 2nd May 2023 in Nairobi City County,” read part of the letter dated April 24, 2023.
“In the course of the said meeting/procession, we intend to submit a written petition to Harambee House, Nairobi,” it added.
The opposition also listed streets where the procession and meetings will be held.
According to the letter, the procession will be held on major streets in the city.
Streets Marked for Azimio ‘Protests’
They include;
- Moi Avenue
- Kenyatta Avenue
- Haile Selassie Avenue
- Harambee Avenue
Azimio further noted that the processions will be held between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm.
They have asked the police to provide them with security. Past similar meetings had been declared unlawful by the government and turned chaotic with goons taking advantage to loot and destroy properties.

The opposition returns to the processions that had been suspended after President William Ruto agreed to listen to some of their demands.
But while Ruto proposed a bi-partisan approach, the opposition has accused the government side of being insincere in the talks.
Both sides have formed a 7-member team to take part in the talks. However, Azimio on Tuesday announced that it has suspended its participation in the talks until when Eldas MP Adan Keynan will be replaced.
They argue that Keynan is their member and cannot represent the Kenya Kwanza side in the talks.
