Nandi County Concludes Inspection of Alcoholic Drinks Premises

The County Government of Nandi in conjunction with the National Government has concluded a one week inspection of all the alcoholic drinks premises across the County.

The premises visited are the ones that had applied for 2025 licenses in order to run the businesses.

Speaking in Chesumei during the visit, Chesumei Assistant County Commissioner, Margaret Gitau promised the bar owners that after the inspection, the committee will sit and scrutinize the findings before issuing licenses to the qualified businesses.

The areas of interest during the inspection were; the location of the liquor outlets, sanitation, approved structural planing, structural conditions, and security concerns amongst others.

William Melly, the Director in charge of Nandi Alcoholic Drinks Control Directorate, warned bar owners who have habit of shifting their business premises other than inspected ones, that their businesses will be closed citing the illegality of shifting business premises.

On his side Kimutai Sitienei, the Sub-County Administrator Chesumei, said once the Sub-County Alcoholic Drinks Committee finishes scrutinizing the inspection report, a list of licensed liquor premises will be shared out to all the stakeholders for monitoring purposes.
