The Uasin Gishu County contingents, comprising officers from the Fire and Rescue Services and the Enforcement Section, will join the main parade team for preparatory rehearsals at the Eldoret ASK Showground in Eldoret City.
The joint rehearsals are set to begin on Friday, September 18, ahead of the 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations.
This year’s Mashujaa Day will be jointly hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties on Tuesday, October 20, at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium.
The event will be presided over by President William Ruto.
On Monday, September 14, 2026, Director of Fire Rescue and Disaster Management, Fredrick Serem held a meeting with the fire and rescue team after a preparatory parade to discuss strategies by the Governor Dr Jonathan Bii-led administration to ensure the celebrations are successful, as well as measures put in place to mitigate the effects of the expected El Niño rains.
As is customary during national celebrations, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will present a Tri-Service Guard of Honour, a fly-past by the Kenya Air Force, and marching contingents drawn from the KDF, other disciplined services, and county inspectorate teams.
“The Uasin Gishu County contingent will consist of 76 inspectorate officers and 38 officers from the Fire and Rescue section who will fully participate in the daily rehearsals at the ASK Showground,” noted Chief Fire Officer David Sitati.
Dress rehearsals will be held at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium as follows: Formation Commanders’ Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday, September 29; Service Commanders’ Dress Rehearsal on October 6; and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Dress Rehearsal on October 13.
How Uasin Gishu County Fire Brigade is Preparing For Mashujaa Day
Meanwhile, the County Government of Uasin Gishu Fire Brigade continues with preparations to participate in this year’s Mashujaa Day.
During a parade held on Friday and overseen by Senior Fire Inspector Cornelius Sang, the officers were taken through various key drills, including marching, commands, and salutation, among others.
The Chief Inspector of the fire unit, David Sitati, said the team is also putting in place other strategies to ensure that other emergency incidents in the county are handled appropriately.
The unit will collaborate with officers from the neighbouring counties of Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet to ensure the success of the important event on the national calendar.
