Natembeya: Senior Trans Nzoia County Health Officials to Work from Hospital

/

All senior Trans Nzoia County Health Officials will have their offices in hospitals, Governor George Natembeya has announced.

The move, Natembeya says, is part of his strategy to ensure quality service delivery to the people.

Among the senior health officials that will henceforth work from offices located within a hospital include the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) and Chief Officer.

In order to improve health care and service delivery, Under my administration chief executive Committee Member (CECM)for health, Chief officer, director and senior medical officers will have their offices in hospitals for proper supervision and service delivery,” the governor said in a tweet on Monday, November 14, 2022.

We need them to work from the hospital so that before they sit down in their offices, they will have passed by the facility to know how things are,” he added in a video he shared on his verified Twitter handle.

The governor further said his administration is willing to ensure health workers across all their facilities are well remunerated.

Service to the people

He however noted that better remuneration will only come if the health workers commit to fully serving the people.

According to the Trans Nzoia Governor, the county has at least 100 medical doctors but most of them are never available to attend to sick patients.

To curb conflict of interest in service delivery, no medical officer from Transnzoia County will be allowed to serve the public hospital and attend to their own private clinics- they will have to choose one, either to serve mwananchi or run their private clinics,” Natembeya said.

In regard to the aforementioned plan I will ensure all health workers have been remunerated well and timely,” he added.

Health services in public hospitals have always been under scrutiny with claims that some doctors and health workers spent most of their time attending to customers within their private health facilities.
