The management of the Eldoret Catholic Diocese affairs are set to witness several changes.
The changes are contained in the recently launched Diocesan Synod.
Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich last week precised over the launch of the new Synod in an event held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret town.
Speaking during the event attended by faithful from across the Diocese, Bishop Kimengich said the new Synod seeks to simplify pastoral activities.
Under the new leadership structure contained in the Synod, every county will now headed by a Vicar General
“The Vicar Generals together with the Bishop will form the Executive Committee of the Diocese,” said the Bishop.
Eldoret Catholic Diocese covers three counties of Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet.
Family matters
This means there will be three Vicar Generals in the Diocese.
The Synod also provides for setting up of a unit to handle family matters amongst faithful.
Further, it creates another unit mandated to listen to and offer advise to priests and nuns.
“The units will be mandated to handle and solve challenges for families amongst our members and ensure unity as well as those for priests and nuns,” he explained.
The Diocesan Synod also provides a clear structure on how Catholic faithful within the diocese will be involved in pastoral and church development programs.
The Synod, a first one for the Eldoret Catholic Diocese, will be in place for the next 10 years before it can be changed.
However, its official implementation will start after a month’s time. This is to allow time for members to read and understand the new changes that are contained in the Diocesan Synod.
