Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop Dominic Kimengich has made several appointments of priests as per the recently adopted Diocesan Synod.
In a letter confirming the appointment seen by Uasin Gishu News, Bishop Kimengich has appointed three Episcopal Vicars who will be in charge of three counties under the Eldoret Catholic Diocese.
“I hereby write to inform you that Rev. Dominic Kimengich, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, has made the following new appointments of Priests as per the Diocesan Synod 2023,” read part of the letter dated June 19, 2023, signed by Rev. Fr Vincent Kibet, the Chancellor of Eldoret Diocese.
The three are Rev. Fr Japhet Machichim who will be in charge of Nandi Pastoral Region, Rev. Fr. Stephen Njure (Uasin Gishu) and Rev. Fr David Mutai Rutto who will be in charge of Elgeyo Marakwet Pastoral Region.
According to the letter of appointment, Fr Machichim will reside in Kapsabet Parish while Fr Njure will be based in St Mary’s Kipkorgot.
Fr Rutto will reside in Iten Parish.
The Diocesan Synod that took effect in April 2023 provided for the creation of the positions of priests that will be in charge of the counties.
Bishop Kimengich has also appointed two new vicars, Rev Francis Moriasi (Vicar of religious) and Rev Fr Michael Rop (Vicar for Clergy).
Other appointments made are for three Curia – Rev Fr Vincent Kitur (Chancellor/Moderator), Rev. Fr Gregory Kimeli (Vocations Director) and Rev. Fr Francis Kamau Wainaina who will be the communications director.
Further, the Eldoret Catholic Diocese Bishop appointed county education coordinators for the three counties.

- Rev Fr Edwin Kangogo – Education Cordinator, Elgeyo Marakwet.
Rev Fr Sospeter Kangogo has also been appointed the Diocesan Liturgist.
In addition, 15 parish priests have been appointed alongside 7 assistant priests
