The newly created Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women National Super League is scheduled to kick off today, Saturday, at various grounds across the country.
The league was created after two regional leagues for last season – FKF Women Division One zones A and B – were unified.
It is made up of 16 teams, 9 from Zone A and 7 from Zone B.
Three teams from the two zones were promoted to the FKF Women Premier League.
The three are Kibera Girls, Bungoma Queens as well as Madira Soccer Assassins.
In the first round of matches in the new League scheduled for today, Homa Bay-based Gideon Starlets host Eldoret Falcons at Opanga Primary School Grounds.
The two teams were in the FKF Women Division One Zone B league.
Gideon’s missed promotion by a whisker after finishing third in the league.
In another match, Kisped Queens face Kisumu All Stars at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
On Sunday, Kitale School will play host to a clash between hosts Royal Starlets and Kolwa Falcons while Mathare United Women will be away in Kilifi to face MTG United at MTG Grounds.
Top two teams in the league will get automatic promotion to the FKF Women Premier League next season.
