A resident of Eldoret town has made a special appeal to Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen that if fulfilled will change the outlook of the soon-to-be city.

In the request, Michael Kirwa, popularly known as Waziri Bila Kazi, wants the CS to give the Sosiani River Bridge a major facelift.

The bridge lies on the busy Eldoret-Kapsabet road, and acts as one of the entry points to Eldoret.

Pride of Eldoret

The lane will then pave the way of having the current bridge to be used for entry to the town, and a new one for exit.

With the exit and entry lanes, it will be easier for motorists to use the busy road,” notes the youthful local.

He also notes that accomplishment of the project will give Eldoret a new look – and a legacy for the Transport CS.

The way we have the famous elephant tasks in Mombasa where people visiting the coastal city take pictures, transforming the Sosiani Bridge by considering my vision and request will make it a landmark in Eldoret,” he noted.

Kirwa has trademarked his vision for a new face of Sosiani – One River, Two Gates: The Pride of Eldoret.

The river holds an extraordinary habitation in Eldoret’s history. It is from its stony nature that the name of the town originated from. It is believed that Eldoret is a name coined from a maasai name ‘Eldore’ – which means stone – a reference made to the many stones that River Sosiani that cuts across Eldoret town had.

New roundabout in Eldoret

Aside from construction of an exit and entry lane along the Eldoret-Kapsabet Road, the self-proclaimed Waziri Bila Kazi has also requested for the setting up of a new round about near the Trocadro Bus Stage.

The roundabout, Kirwa says will be named after CS Murkomen.

There are already two roundabouts along the same area, and the new one will make it three.

Ahead of the Devolution Conference that Eldoret hosted in August, the two roundabouts witnessed a major revamp.
