Uasin Gishu County teams began their Talanta Hela title campaign on a high, registering victories in their first matches on Friday.
The champions tore the opposition in their first matches at the qualifier tournament currently underway at Moi Complex Primary School in Nyeri County.
The Girls from Uasin Gishu demolished Migori 6-1 while their 10-man boys team beat Kwale County 3-1.
Even after Mojabe John was sent off after an offensive on a Kwale player 28 minutes into the match, the boys from Uasin Gishu held their ground, collecting two more goals in the second half.
The scoresheet was 1-1 going into the breather.

The girls also dominated the match, closing the scoreboard with 6 goals to one.
“The girls played well, however, this match (with Migori) has given us an indication of what to correct for an even quality play in our next match,” coach Robert Simiyu said.
The boys’ head coach, Fred Owino, first gave his squad a thumbs up for playing shoulders high even after one of theirs was sent off the pitch.
“The team proved well ready and promising us a good show here. We are playing one game at a time and we hope for good results in our next fixtures,” said the tactician.
Uasin Gishu County boys play Nairobi County while the girls face Busia on Saturday at 9.30 am.

County Director of Sports, Henry Mukolwe says the teams have proved their worth so far.
