More than 1,000 youths in Trans Nzoia are set to benefit from the upcoming Kazi Mashinani initiative.
The initiative is scheduled to be launched in July this year by Governor George Natembeya.
Speaking at the Kitale Bus Park, Tuesday, the governor emphasized that his administration has prioritized the creation of job opportunities for unemployed youths in the county. The initiative will be implemented throughout the county, aiming to uplift the living standards of youths from diverse backgrounds.
Governor Natembeya further disclosed that the county will initiate the disbursement of the Nawiri fund.
With an interest rate of 3%, these funds will provide a much-needed boost to small-scale businesses and startups, enabling them to enhance their operations.
The governor stated unequivocally that his government will not allow individuals to exploit the youth for their own selfish interests, jeopardizing peace and harmony.
He reassured the public that the county administration will ensure the protection of property and businesses in the area.
“Trans Nzoia has no place for skirmishes; we will not tolerate our people turning against each other. We are all residents of this great county, and it is our responsibility to maintain peace and enable everyone to conduct their business peacefully,” affirmed the governor.
Promote unity
Governor Natembeya also assured businesses in the county of their security, highlighting that security agencies have already commenced operations to apprehend the masterminds behind the recent unrest.
Additionally, he cautioned politicians against inciting divisions within the county, emphasizing his duty to promote unity in the cosmopolitan region.
The governor vowed not to permit the manipulation of youths for the sake of causing chaos.

Furthermore, he issued a stern warning to touts, urging them to refrain from harassing travellers. The administration will tirelessly work to uphold law and order at the Kitale Bus Park, with plans to allocate more stalls to SACCOs that did not benefit in the initial phase.
The leadership at Kitale Park appealed to the governor to take action against individuals disrupting operations at the facility.
The County chief also expressed his unwavering dedication to enhancing the business environment within the county.
Looking ahead to the next financial year, he outlined plans to construct additional markets and provide assistance to local businesses in order to bolster their operations.
“We are fully committed to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and flourish. By constructing more markets and offering support to local enterprises, we aim to stimulate economic growth and promote entrepreneurship in our county,” he stated.
This initiative also reflects Natembeya’s determination to foster a thriving business landscape and drive economic development within the region.
