Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has officially commissioned the new swimming pool at Ngeria Girls Secondary School, in a significant boost for sports development and student welfare in the region.
The ceremony, also attended by Rift Valley MP Joseph Wainaina and former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, marked the completion of a project designed to enhance physical education and water safety for female students in the area.
Also in attendance were Ward Representatives and the school’s management team, who joined the dignitaries for the unveiling.
The new facility measures 12 feet by 35 feet and holds a total capacity of 450,000 litres. According to the project specifications, the pool is engineered to safely accommodate up to 80 students simultaneously, adhering to a space allowance of 4 square meters per student.

Commissioning the pool, MP Sudi emphasised that the infrastructure represents more than just a physical addition to the campus.
“This pool is more than infrastructure,” Sudi stated during the event. “It will promote fitness and essential water-safety skills for every student, while creating opportunities for discipline, teamwork, and personal growth that extend far beyond the classroom,” he said in a post on his verified Facebook page.

The project aims to provide girls within the Kapseret constituency with a dedicated, on-site environment for training and recreation, addressing a critical gap in sports facilities for girls’ schools in the region. The inclusion of water safety training is a key component, ensuring that students gain life-saving skills alongside competitive swimming techniques.

The presence of high-profile figures such as Moses Kuria and Joseph Wainaina underscored the cross-regional support for youth development initiatives in the Rift Valley.
School administrators have indicated that the pool will be integrated into the regular curriculum starting this term, with special training camps scheduled for the upcoming inter-school sports season.
