Poa Place Resort, a popular entertainment and social establishment in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, has come out to clarify viral claims that its lion had escaped.
The facility hosts several wild animals at its Nature Centre, among them lions and cheetahs.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, a public notice, purportedly from the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI), emerged online warning students that a lion at the nearby facility had escaped.
The notice has since been flagged as fake. The RVTTI stamp on it also dated June 30, 2025, suggested it did not originate from the institution and was likely fabricated.

In a public notice posted on its social media pages, Poa Place Resort and Nature Centre said all its animals are safe, secure, and fully accounted for.
“We assure the public that the safety and well-being of our guests, staff, and animals remain our highest priority. The lions are not on the loose—they are right where they belong, ready to be admired safely at Poa Place,” it added.
The facility also used the opportunity to cheekily invite locals to visit and see the lions in their cage.
“Since our lions have become the talk of the town, we invite you to visit Poa Place Resort and Nature Centre and experience our wildlife, beautiful environment, and conservation efforts firsthand,” it noted.
