President William Ruto has finally named his first cabinet.
Ruto on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, named the men and women that will sit in the cabinet for the next five years.
In an address to the nation from State House, Nairobi, the Head of State said the individuals, alongside his deputy will help him run the affairs of the country.
As promised, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has been appointed the Prime Cabinet Minister.
Ruto’s debut cabinet is dominated by political leaders, with some elected in the just-concluded general election.
Those elected and voters will have to go back to the polls are Kipchumba Murkomen proposed to be Transport CS, Kandara’s Alice Wahome who has been nominated to be water CS and Aden Duale (Defence CS)
Of the 23 Cabinet Ministers (including the Prime Cabinet Minister), the President however failed to keep the promise of appointing half of his cabinet.
Only seven women made it to the list.

11. Housing – Zachariah Mwangi Njeru
12. Tourism – Peninah Malonza
1. Agriculture – Mithika Linturi
14. Health – Susan Wafula
17. Information – Eliud Owalo
18. Education – Ezekiel Machogu
19. Energy – Davis Chirchir
20. Sports – Ababu Namwamba
21. Cooperatives – Simon Chelugui
22. Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs – Salim Mvurya
23. Labour – Florence Boore.
In the address, the President also nominated former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi to be the next Attorney General.
