Safaricom has unveiled Eliud Kipchoge’s murals at Rupa’s mall in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The artistic impressions are in honour and celebration by the telco for Kipchoge’s achievement as one of the greatest marathoners of all time.
“I greatly thank Safaricom for considering making murals of myself here in Eldoret. Indeed, this means a lot to me and it is a great honour and motivation for me. It is an inspiration even to the next generation that if you create a positive impact on society, then people will recognise you,” said Eliud Kipchoge.

Eliud Kipchoge is widely regarded as the greatest marathon runner of all time. He is the Olympic marathon champion and world record holder with a time of 2:01:09 set at the Berlin Marathon in 2022. He has run four of the six fastest marathons in history and he continues to break records in long-distance running.
“Last year was very successful as I broke a world marathon record in Berlin. For 2023, I am planning for the Boston marathon which is happening in April where I am determined to set a new record,” said Kipchoge.
During the unveiling of Kipchoge’s murals, Safaricom PLC also announced a Ksh1 million donation to the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation.

In addition, Safaricom will also support the marathoner with 5,000 tree seedlings as part of his tree-growing initiative in the Kaptagat forest.
