The Senate ICT Committe has lauded Elgeyo Marakwet for being among top three counties in Kenya that had automated its revenue collection thus hitting its targets.
The Committee, Chaired by Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang, said this showed the County was keen on transparency and accountability on what it collects.
As a result, he said, the County’s revenue had increased by 162% overshooting its targets.
“We are overwhelmingly impressed by your presentation on how you collect your revenues. At the click of a button, we are able to see the monies coming into the County. You have nothing to hide,” said Chesang.

He congratulated Governor Wisley Rotich for being among the top champions of revenue automation and for setting the pace as the Chair ICT Committee at the Council of Governors.
The Committee was in the County on a fact-finding mission to assess the County’s revenue collection systems.
“To ensure that we optimise our own source revenue collection, we have ensured that we have digitalised our systems to streamline our collections to realise our sh 1 billion potential,” Governor Rotich told the Senators.
Commitee members present were Beatrice Ogolla (nominate), Issa Juma Boy of Kwale and Elgeyo Marakwet’s William Kisang.

Elgeyo Marakwet County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Chief Officers and Directors were also present.
