Solasa Stima Starlets Humbles Bungoma Queens In Division 1 Clash

Solasa Stima Starlets beat Bungoma Queens 2-1 on an entertaining Division 1 Women’s League game played at Golden Stadium, in Kisumu Ndogo, Eldoret town on Saturday.

Lavenda Murumwa put Solasa Stima Starlets ahead in the 12th minute before Cynthia Matekwa added a second through a penalty kick.

Centrine Waswa of Bungoma Queens reduced the deficit in the 2nd half time, but Solasa held on to win .

Solasa Stima Starlets coach Marthius Godfrey said early preparations contributed to their victory.

We were prepared not to loose today’s game. We were at home and we used that advantage,” he said.

According to the Chairman of Bungoma Queens, Eric Wafula, his team had not played for a long time.

The game was not bad but we had stayed for long time (three months) without playing,” Wafula said.

He also lamented that they were yet to receive funding from the fiotball Kenya Federation due to the ongoing wrangles that have seen management of Kenyan football put under a caretaker committee.

Kenya has already been banned indefinitely by FIFA due to government interfere.

The next Bungoma Starlets’ game will be at Rongai, Nakuru County.

Winners in the Division 1 Zone A and B Women’s League will be getting promotion to play at the Kenya Premier League (PL).

Runners up will face each other to decide who joins the PL.
