The Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) have arrested a man suspected to be involved in terrorism activities.

A police report indicates that the suspect, SHERIL VUGUSTA LODENYO was arrested on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Kamalambu village in Songhor ward, Nandi County.

The 22-year-old, from Chavakali, Vihiga County, is said to have been cohabiting with a man identified as Laban Kimutai.

ATPU made the arrest following a tip-off from members of the public.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to have undergone training on weapon handling, Kidnapping, Robberies and use of explosives for two years with Alshabaab after being allegedly kidnapped from Kilifi County in 2019,” read part of the police report seen by Uasin Gishu News.

The suspect told the police that she escaped from Alshabaab through Lamu/Mombasa and headed to her home county where she was allegedly stayed until August 2021 and later to Kamalambu village where she was arrested.

According to the police, SHERIL VUGUSTA LODENYO has been attending recently concluded Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) recruiting centers with motive yet to be established.

“The suspect is being escorted to Kapsabet Police Station awaiting collection by ATPU Eldoret,” the report noted.

Kenya has been on high alert following fears that terror-linked organizations were planning an attack in the country.

A few weeks ago, a suspect was nabbed in Nairobi, after he allegedly tried to bribe a police officer so as to obtain information about a popular entertainment joint in the city.

The Inspector Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has since recalled all police officers who were on leave in a bid to enhance security, with Kenyans being asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities and individuals.
