Trans Nzoia: Kiminini Market to Undergo a Ksh 300 million Transformation

Trans Nzoia County Government has announced plans to construct a modern market in Kiminini, a project valued at Ksh 300 million.

The initiative, a collaboration with the National Government’s State Department of Housing and Urban development, is set to revitalize the local economy and improve the livelihoods of residents.

During a site identification meeting, County CECM for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, Janerose Nasimiyu Mutama, emphasized the county’s commitment to fulfilling the campaign promise of Governor George Natembeya to serve the people of Trans Nzoia and the people of Kiminini market .

The new market is expected to provide a more conducive and efficient trading environment for the community.

Addressing traders and locals at the market, Nasimiyu called upon residents to cooperate with both county and national government agencies to ensure the timely completion of the project.

She also assured the people of Kiminini that the market’s construction had been planned and approved and that necessary utilities would be relocated as needed.

Nasimiyu highlighted the community’s involvement in the planning process, noting that their suggestions had been carefully considered.

However, she acknowledged that the existing layout of the market might require adjustments to accommodate essential infrastructure. The county executive proposed using public land outside the market for these facilities, urging residents to support this approach.

Kiminini trading centre to be upgraded to township

Already the integrated plan for Kiminini has been completed and approved.

In addition, Kiminini upgrading report has been approved by the county assembly and endorsed by the governor and is now awaiting gazettement.

Once gazetted, Kiminini town management committee will be formed to spearhead the towns development and upgrade to municipal status.
