Transport and communication between Saboti centre and Kitale town in Trans Nzoia County are expected to be improved following the completion and opening of the Simalabandu/Manor House bridge.
The bridge that is now fully operational was officially commissioned on Saturday by area Member of Parliament who is also Saboti Constituency National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) patron, Caleb Amisi.
Speaking during the launch, Amisi said the bridge will facilitate the transportation of goods especially agricultural produce from farms to markets in Kitale town.
“Saboti is an agricultural constituency and this bridge will make it easy for our farmers to transport their produce to markets,” Amisi said.
Amisi further said the bridge serves as a solution to school absenteeism amongst primary school pupils who are normally forced to stay at home during the rainy season due to bridge flooding.

The lawmaker said the bridge has been challenging for his constituents for a long time.
Improving connectivity and accessibility
“This bridge has long been a challenge for residents, persisting through the governance of various political figures in Saboti,” he said.
The MP further stated that the completion of the infrastructure project signifies a substantial step towards improving connectivity and accessibility in the region.
“The bridge is set to become a crucial link, easing transportation and supporting the broader development of Saboti Constituency,” he noted.
Some parents led by George Orone said the bridge comes as a relief to many parents.
“Before this bridge was constructed, we used to worry because the safety of our children who study at schools on either side of the bridge was not guaranteed but we can now smile,” Orone said.
The contractor who won the tender took a record time of less than three months to deliver the project.
